IV. NECTFL "BEST OF STATE" SESSIONS PROGRAM
For many years, NECTFL has enhanced its conference schedule of sessions and provided a forum for outstanding presenters at the state level through its "Best of State" program. Please ask your "best of" state session presenter to fill out a proposal form and submit it as soon after your conference as possible. The online session proposal form can be accessed at http://www.nectfl.net/proposal/proposal.cfm. The conference registration fee is waived for these presenters -- they must download, print, fill out and submit the printable pdf registration form (http://www.nectfl.org/Conference/documents/RegForm2012.pdf), writing "Best of [state]" across the payment line because it is not possible to register online without paying. The form may be scanned and emailed, faxed, or sent via "snail mail" -- instructions and contact information are on the form.
V.
2012 TEACHER OF THE YEAR COMPETITION
Application deadline to NECTFL January 7, 2012. Please send to: Thekla Fall, 5048 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15232
The Northeast Conference will participate in the 2012 ACTFL Teacher of the Year competition. ACTFL requests that state associations choose a state Teacher of the Year during fall 2011. That person's name and supporting documents should be submitted to NECTFL's TOY Committee Chair, Thekla Fall, by January 7, 2012. In January, the NECTFL TOY Committee will review all state dossiers and choose a regional winner who will be announced at the 2012 Northeast Conference. We encourage all states in our region to publicize this award which helps the profession to designate a spokesperson to carry our message to the wider public and serve as an inspiration to language educators. All guidelines, forms and application documents are available on the ACTFL website. Please see ACTFL TOY Application Guidelines here.
VI. THE 2012 MEETING WITH THE STATES AT THE NECTFL CONFERENCE - Plan to start your conference by joining us for an afternoon meeting of state leaders on Friday April 20th at the Baltimore Waterfront Marriott Hotel in Baltimore Maryland. The meeting will include hospitality, as always, from our loyal and esteemed friends at Pearson! The NECTFL Outreach Committee looks forward to seeing you there!
In a continuing effort to keep our state information records up to date, we appreciate your informing us of changes in your organization. Thank you!
