Whatever your role in our profession – teacher, administrator, researcher, program director, adviser, association leader, consultant – you are also a life-long learner. 

 You know how it feels to have been inspired, challenged, cared for, or encouraged by an educator. 

 You know how it feels to have earned someone’s respect, overcome someone’s disappointment in you, or completely surprised someone by exceeding expectations.

 You know who deserves your gratitude. 

•  You know who should be remembered and honored.

•  You know who would be truly thrilled to discover what he or she meant to you.

NECTFL believes in the power of teachers.  But we know that individual teachers are not always recognized or honored as they should be.  We know that making a difference in someone’s life isn’t always a flashy process that attracts attention.

Let’s do something about it!

Starting at the 2012 Northeast Conference in Baltimore (April 20-23) and continuing virtually on the NECTFL website thereafter, a special Wall of Recognition will be created to celebrate those who have mentored, inspired and taught YOU.

Each honoree will be represented on the Wall by a photo, a tribute you have written, and, if you wish, your name as nominator of that honoree. 

Honorees may be memorialized in this way if they are no longer with us, but they may also come from the ranks of the employed or the retired, in which case they will receive a message indicating that they are being honored as well as an invitation to join you at the Conference in April! 

All honorees able to be present will be recognized, with their nominators, at our Saturday, April 21, evening Awards Ceremony.  The Wall with all photos and tributes will be displayed throughout the Conference in a prominent location at the Conference hotel and then on our website.

How can you participate?

1. Click here to fill out an online form which will request:

• An indication of whether you are honoring the person posthumously or not
• Honoree name and most recent affiliation (workplace)
• Honoree contact information, if applicable (as complete as possible)
• Rationale/tribute for your selection (length – one to 250 words)
• A photo, if available – the honoree alone or with you
• A contribution to NECTFL that we will use to support the identification, development, and recognition of leaders for the profession (the amount will not be made public)
• Your own contact information (as complete as possible)
• An indication of the probability that you will attend the 2012 conference (definitely yes, likely, unlikely, definitely not)

2. Nominate more than one individual if you wish, using the above procedures.

3. Your honoree(s) will receive a message indicating that you have nominated them (unless you wish to remain anonymous) and requesting a photo, if applicable, as well as an indication of the probability that they will attend the 2012 conference.    In the case of posthumous honors, an effort will be made to locate family members of the honoree to convey this information.
